Newyddion diweddaraf am yr ysgol yma!

Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment!

  • Ionawr 31ain / January 31st

    Sun 31 Jan 2021

An update following on from the announcement on reopening schools made by the first minister on Friday.

Although February 22nd was mentioned in the announcement , we don’t have any details regarding what is expected to happen on that date as we were listening to the announcement on the tv the same as everyone else - a reminder again unfortunately that we don’t get any advance notice of what is going to be said.

This week will be filled with meetings between the Welsh Government and Local Authorities to work out what the announcement means in practical terms , in the first instance across the whole of Wales.

Then our Local Authority must translate that into a Merthyr wide set of protocols and procedures which are applicable to every school - these will include producing new or updating existing COVID19 risk assessments , guidelines social distancing , the wearing of face coverings for staff , the setting up of class rooms , how many pupils will be returning , which pupils will be returning and following what timescale.

Once that is in place , then we as a school can start the process of translating all of that into what it actually means for Ysgol Rhyd y Grug. The Local Authority will be informing us which pupils can start back , when they can start , who will be able to come back first and in which order - if the classes will be staggered on either a daily or weekly basis , and if there will be transport or school catering available. All these issues will be worked out by myself and my Senior Management Team in order to  facilitate a smooth return to full capacity as soon as possible - as we really want the children back in school.

The reason that it was important to send this to you today is to keep you informed of the process as much as I can so that you can be assured that you will receive information directly from me about how all this is going to affect our school - there will be no doubt you will hear many stories in the media during the coming days about what they think will be happening, all I can promise you is at the earliest possible opportunity I will get all the information you need out to you - I will have to wait until both the WG and LA make their positions clear , but when decisions are made explicitly about Rhyd y Grug , you will be the first to know.

As you will be aware , there are numerous tasks and activities being set by all class teachers and support staff at the moment. There are 2 tasks per day in the Foundation Phase and 3 tasks a day in Key Stage 2. These are being supplemented by pre-recorded instructional sessions and two live catch-up sessions for everyone each week.

The latest addition to Google Classroom is the opportunity to exchange voice messages between pupils and staff if the children need further clarification on any matters.

The reason for writing is to try and get more children to engage with these sessions and to offer further support to try and improve the number of pupils benefiting from all the work being provided for them.

If you are having difficulty with appropriate devices - please contact the school to arrange to loan either a Chromebook or an iPad. You will have to sign an insurance disclaimer , but most loans can be arranged within 24 hours.

As always during these difficult times , the staff are available to answer questions and give advice through email.

Please make us aware of any issues you may have which may be impacting your child’s ability to engage with the work being set , so that we may work with you to try and overcome them.

    Diolch.

Fel y gwyddoch, mae’r staff yn gosod nifer o dasgiau a gweithgareddau i’r plant  ar hyn o bryd.

Mae 2 y diwrnod i’r Cyfnod Sylfaen a 3 y diwrnod  i blant Cyfnod Allweddol 2.  Yn ogystal a’r rhain mae sesiynau wedi’u recordio a sesiynau byw yn wythnosol.

Y peth mwyaf diweddar ar Google Classroom yw’r cyfle i gyfnewid negeseuon llais rhwng y plant a’r staff er mwyn derbyn mwy o wybodaeth neu eglurhad am y tasgiau.

Y rheswm dros ysgrifennu’r neges yma yw i drio cael mwy o blant yn ymuno yn y sesiynau ac i gynnig cefnogaeth iddynt  fel bod modd i fwy o blant elwa o’n darpariaeth ni fel ysgol.

Os oes problem neu anhawster gyda’ch teclynau neu offer TGCH  -  a wnewch chi gysylltu gyda’r ysgol er mwyn trefnu i fenthyg Chromebook neu iPad.  Fe fydd rhaid llofnodi ffurflen yswiriant, ond mae’n bosib i ni drefnu benthyciad o fewn 24 awr.

Er ein bod ni mewn cyfnod anodd, mae’r staff yn dal i ymateb i broblemau a chwestiynau ar eu ebyst.

A wnewch chi sicrhau eich bod yn hysbysu ni o unrhyw drafferthion sydd yn rhwystro’ch plentyn rhag ymuno gyda’r gweithgareddau a’r tasgiau dyddiol fel ein bod ni’n gallu gweithio gyda chi i drio datrys eich problemau.

    Diolch.

  • Llythyr gan MTCBC

    Wed 06 Jan 2021

    Dyddiad: 6ed Ionawr 2021

    Annwyl Rieni / Gofalwyr

Yn dilyn cyhoeddiad Llywodraeth Cymru neithiwr byddwch yn ymwybodol bod dysgu ledled Cymru ar gyfer yr holl ddisgyblion bellach wedi symud i ddysgu o bell tan Ionawr 18fed ar y cynharaf. Bydd ysgol eich plentyn yn darparu gwybodaeth ar sut y gellir cyrchu'r dysgu hwn a sut y gall eich plentyn ymgysylltu â'i athrawon yn ystod yr amser hwn. Nid yw ysgolion wedi cau - mae'r dysgu wedi symud i blatfform gwahanol.

Nod y cloi i lawr yw atal y firws rhag lledaenu ymhellach a'r neges glir gan Lywodraeth Cymru yw aros gartref lle bynnag y bo modd ac rwy'n hyderus mai dim ond lle bo hynny'n hollol angenrheidiol y gofynnir am ofal plant. Ar hyn o bryd mae ysgolion yn rheoli'r broses hon eu hunain, gan fod pob ysgol yn aros ar agor. Rhoddwyd arweiniad clir i ysgolion ar sut i reoli hyn.

Hoffwn achub ar y cyfle hwn i atgoffa rhieni a gofalwyr na ddylai eich plentyn / plant gael mynediad at ddarpariaeth hyb gofal plant yn eu hysgol os ydynt:

    • Achos wedi'i gadarnhau o COVID-19

    • Yn profi symptomau COVID-19

    • Byw gydag achos wedi'i gadarnhau o COVID-19

    • Wedi'i nodi fel cyswllt agos ag achos wedi'i gadarnhau o COVID-19

    • Byw gyda rhywun sydd â symptomau COVID-19 ac sy'n aros am brawf

Mae'n ymddangos yn annirnadwy ein bod wedi gorfod dychwelyd i'r sefyllfa hon eto, ond mae'n bwysig ein bod yn parhau i weithio gyda'n gilydd i atal trosglwyddo COVID-19 ledled Bwrdeistref y Sir.

Byddaf yn parhau i roi'r wybodaeth ddiweddaraf ichi wrth i'r sefyllfa ddatblygu.

    Yr eiddoch yn gywir

    SUE WALKER,

    PRIF SWYDDOG (DYSGU)

  • MTCBC Letter

    Wed 06 Jan 2021

    Dyddiad/Date: 6th January 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers

Following the Welsh Government announcement yesterday evening you will be aware that learning across Wales for all pupils has now moved to remote learning until January 18th at the earliest. Your child’s school will provide information on how this learning can be accessed and how your child can engage with his/her teachers during this time. It is not that schools are closed – learning has moved to a different platform.

Your school will already have contacted you regarding childcare provision. The aim of the lockdown is to prevent further spread of the virus and the clear message from Welsh Government is to stay at home wherever possible and I am confident that childcare will only be asked for where absolutely necessary. Currently schools are managing this process themselves, as all schools are remaining open. Clear guidance has been given to schools on how to manage this.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and carers that your child/children should not access childcare hub provision within their school if they are:

    · A confirmed case of COVID-19

    · Experiencing symptoms of COVID-19

    · Living with a confirmed case of COVID-19

    · Identified as a close contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19

    · Living with someone with symptoms of COVID-19 and who is awaiting a test

It does seem unimaginable that we have had to return to this situation again, but it is important that we continue to work together to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 across the County Borough.

I will continue to keep you informed as the situation develops.

    Yours sincerely

    SUE WALKER

    CHIEF OFFICER (LEARNING)

  • Dysgu o Bell / Distance Learning

    Tue 05 Jan 2021

Mi fydd gweithgareddau a thasgau dyddiol ar Dojo a Google Classroom o fory ymlaen.

Os yw eich plentyn wedi derbyn peiriant newydd yn ystod y gwyliau , cofiwch gysylltu ar gyfer manylion arwyddo mewn os oes angen.

Unrhyw gwestiynau , cysylltwch yn uniongyrchol gyda eich athro/athrawes ddosbarth.

There will be daily tasks provided on Dojo and Google Classroom from tomorrow onwards.

Teachers will check in with pupils and yourselves through the online platforms and will respond to work on a daily basis.

If your child has had new equipment as a Christmas present-iPad etc , and you need sign-in details , or any other information , please contact your classteacher directly.

At the time of writing I have no idea how long the closure is going to last. The current system of setting daily tasks will continue up until Friday , January 15th when we may possibly(!) be in a position to review and adapt if the Welsh Government extend the closure period for schools.

Video message being prepared for tomorrow - you will receive a text with a link to follow when it is uploaded.

    Diolch,

    Mr Williams

  • Wythnos yn cychwyn Ionawr 4ydd

    Sun 03 Jan 2021

    Annwyl Rieni,

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! Gobeithio eich bod wedi llwyddo i gael Nadolig hamddenol gyda'ch teuluoedd. Roeddwn i'n meddwl y dylwn ysgrifennu i'ch atgoffa o sut olwg sydd ar yr wythnos nesaf yn yr ysgol, gan y bu llawer o straeon yn y wasg ynghylch ysgolion yn agor ai peidio. Fel y mae, ni fydd unrhyw newidiadau, yn unol â'r llythyr gan MTCBC ar ddiwedd y tymor diwethaf, a nododd:

Ar Ionawr 4ydd a'r 5ed ni fydd unrhyw ddysgwyr yn yr ysgol. Mae hefyd yn golygu na fydd cyfleoedd dysgu ar-lein uniongyrchol a ddarperir gan ysgolion unigol ar gyfer eu disgyblion ar 4 a 5 Ionawr.

Ar 6ed, 7fed ac 8fed Ionawr, bydd ysgolion Merthyr Tudful yn darparu cefnogaeth ar y safle i blant gweithwyr allweddol. Sylwch fod gweithwyr allweddol at y diben hwn yn cael eu diffinio fel rhywun sy'n gweithio i un o'r sefydliadau a ganlyn:

    • Iechyd

    • Gofal cymdeithasol

    • Gwasanaethau Goleuadau Glas

    • Addysg

Fel o'r blaen, byddem yn disgwyl y byddai'r gefnogaeth hon yn cael ei defnyddio oni bai bod hynny'n hollol angenrheidiol.

Ni ddarperir unrhyw brydau ysgol yn ystod yr wythnos hon - bydd disgwyl i bob plentyn ddod â phrydau wedi'u pacio - i'r rhai sy'n gymwys i gael prydau ysgol am ddim, dilynir y broses ad-dalu gyfredol.

Bydd disgyblion a fydd yn dysgu gartref ar 6ed, 7fed ac 8fed Ionawr yn derbyn gweithgareddau dysgu ar-lein gan eu hysgolion.

Bydd y cyfeiriad ebost canlynol ar gael i chi gysylltu ynglyn a’r gofal plant - info@rhyd-y-grug.cymru.

Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer hwn yw dydd Llun , Ionawr 4ydd am hanner dydd.

    Manylion pellach:

Mae'n rhaid i'r ddau riant fod yn rhan o'r rhestr uchod.

Mi fydd yr Hwb Gofal ar agor rhwng 9.00am-3.00pm

Ni fydd yn bosib cadw plant yn eu swigod dosbarth yn ystod y cyfnod fer yma.

Bydd yna lawer o gyfarfodydd, rwy'n siŵr, yn ystod yr wythnos gyntaf yn ôl, a byddaf yn trosglwyddo’r wybodaeth ddiweddaraf i chi am yr wythnos ganlynol (Ionawr 11eg), a sut y mae hynny'n edrych i'n dysgwyr yn Ysgol Rhyd y Grug cyn gynted ag y bo modd.

Diolch unwaith eto am eich amynedd a'ch dealltwriaeth,

    Mr Williams
