  • Dydd Gwyl Dewi 2021 St Davids Day

    Wed 24 Feb 2021

    Annwyl rieni,

Er mwyn dathlu Dydd Gwyl Dewi rydyn ni'n gofyn yn garedig i'r plant wisgo dillad coch i'r ysgol ar ddydd Llun nesaf. Maen nhw'n gallu gwisgo crysau pel-droed neu rygbi Cymru , gwisg traddodiadol Cymreig neu unrhywbeth coch arall. Plis peidiwch mynd allan i brynu pethau newydd!

Mi fydd athrawon CA2 mewn cysylltiad gyda rhieni er mwyn egluro trefniadau ar gyfer y plant sydd dal adref.

    Dear parents and Guardians,

To celebrate St Davids Day next Monday we would like the children to come to school in red clothes if possible. This could be Wales rugby, football or netball shirts , traditional Welsh costume or anything red in colour. (No football team shirts other than Wales please!)

Please don't go out and buy new costumes for this event , it's another small step on the road back to normality for the children - and as always , it's totally voluntary.

KS2 teachers will contact parents directly to explain the arrangements for those children still having remote lessons through online platforms.

    Diolch!

  • Re-Opening Arrangements - February 2021

    Wed 10 Feb 2021

    February 23rd Arrangements

These are the arrangements for the week beginning February 22nd , the week after half term.

Firstly the school will be closed to everyone on Monday , February 22nd - this is a decision made by Merthyr council on behalf of all schools.

On Tuesday , February 23rd , all the foundation phase pupils will return to school. These are the children in Mrs Phillips , Miss Jenkins , Miss Long , Miss Jones and Mrs Evans’ classes.

School transport will restart as usual on the 23rd - usual pick up time at your usual stops. However the buses will leave the school site a little earlier than usual at 3.15pm , so please bear that in mind when going to your bus stops in the afternoon.

If you bring your child to school , then there is a difference in your timings for the morning - the gates will now not be opened until 9.00am , and the morning session will begin at 9.15am. The afternoon session for children being collected will remain at 3.00pm - please collect your children directly from the classroom as before.

During the first week back , the kitchen will not be open , so every child will need a packed lunch every day.The current plan is to reopen the kitchen for the week beginning March 1st , but I will keep you updated if that changes.

If you are bringing your children to school , we ask that you wear a face covering at all times when on school premises , and that you do not congregate in groups outside the school gates in the parking areas.

Unfortunately we can’t welcome children back to key stage 2 classes yet - the decision around their return to school has still not been made by Welsh Government. We are hoping to get some idea of their plans on Friday , February 19th which is the date of the next lockdown review. When we have a decision , I will contact you immediately to explain our plans.

Current arrangements for online provision of work will continue for ks2 pupils. There may be a few amendments to the live session timetables , but your class teacher will advise you directly of any changes once the logistics have been worked out.

There will not be any online content on either Dojo or Google Classroom during the half term week , with key stage 2 work restarting online on Google Classroom from Tuesday , February 23rd. Staff will not be available to answer any queries through email during half term week.

I must stress that discussions are still going on which could affect all of our careful plans , but at the moment you now know what we intend to do.

If issues arise which directly affects us as a school community , and means that we have to change our plans, then I will contact you as soon as possible.

    Best wishes,

    Mr Williams

  • Llythyr MTCBC - Chwefror 9fed

    Tue 09 Feb 2021

    Annwyl Riant/Gofalwr,

Byddwch i gyd wedi clywed y cyhoeddiad yr wythnos diwethaf am y bwriad i ysgolion agor ar gyfer dysgu wyneb yn wyneb i blant y Cyfnod Sylfaen yr wythnos sy'n dechrau ar 22 Chwefror.

Bydd ysgol eich plentyn mewn cysylltiad ynglŷn â manylion eich plentyn ond bydd pob ysgol gynradd ar draws y fwrdeistref sirol yn aros ar gau i bob disgybl CA2 a'r CS ddydd Llun 22 Chwefror, byddant yn ailagor ddydd Mawrth 23 Chwefror (oni bai bod gan ysgolion ddiwrnod HMS wedi'i gynllunio) i ddechrau darparu dysgu wyneb yn wyneb i blant y Cyfnod Sylfaen ac i blant gweithwyr allweddol penodol yn CA2. Bydd yr amseroedd dechrau a gorffen gwirioneddol ar gyfer eich plentyn yn y Cyfnod Sylfaen yn cael eu cadarnhau gan bob ysgol a gallant gynnwys dull mwy graddol ar gyfer ein plant meithrin ieuengaf nad ydynt eto wedi dechrau yn yr ysgol.

Yn ystod yr wythnos gyntaf honno bydd angen i bob plentyn ddod â phecyn cinio ond rydym yn bwriadu dechrau'r gwasanaeth prydau ysgol yr wythnos ganlynol – darperir rhagor o fanylion am hyn cyn gynted â phosibl.

Mae nifer yr achosion cadarnhaol yn y Fwrdeistref Sirol wedi gostwng yn sylweddol a hynny diolch i ymdrechion pawb, wrth i ysgolion ddechrau ailagor, a allaf ofyn hynny:-

    • nid yw eich plentyn yn mynychu'r ysgol os yw'n sâl

    • nid yw eich plentyn yn mynychu'r ysgol os oes gan rywun arall ar yr aelwyd symptomau Covid

    • mae'r un bobl yn mynd â'ch plentyn i'r ysgol ac oddi ar y ysgol bob dydd

    • pob oedolyn yn gwisgo mygydau ar safle'r ysgol ac wrth gatiau'r ysgol

    • cadw pellter cymdeithasol pan fydd wrth gatiau'r ysgol ac ar safle'r ysgol

    • nid yw eich plentyn yn mynd i dai plant eraill ar gyfer te a/neu fwydydd sy'n cysgu

Rwy'n gobeithio, gyda'r ymdrech barhaus hon, y gall mwy o blant ddychwelyd i'r ysgol ar gyfer eu dysgu a hefyd i gael y rhyngweithio cymdeithasol hanfodol hwnnw gyda'u ffrindiau.

Diolch i chi gyd am eich cefnogaeth barhaus, rydych wedi bod yn anhygoel drwy'r sefyllfa barhaus.

    Yr eiddoch yn gywir

    SUE WALKER,

    PRIF SWYDDOG (DYSGU)

  • MTCBC Letter - February 9th

    Tue 09 Feb 2021

    Dear Parent/Carer,

You will have all heard the announcement last week about the intention for schools to open for face-to-face learning for Foundation Phase children the week beginning 22nd February.

Your child’s school will soon be in touch regarding the specifics for your child but all primary schools in the County Borough will remain closed to all pupils, both KS2 and FP, on Monday 22nd February.  They will re-open on Tuesday 23rd February (unless schools have a planned INSET day) to start delivering face-to-face learning for Foundation Phase children and for children of specific key workers in KS2.  The actual start and finishing times for your child in Foundation Phase will be confirmed by each school and may include a more phased approach for our youngest nursery children who have yet to start school.

During that first week all children will need to bring a packed lunch but we are intending to start the school meal service the following week – further details in this will be provided as soon as possible.

The number of positive cases within the County Borough has dropped significantly and that is thanks to the efforts of everyone.  As schools start to re-open please can I ask that:-

    • your child does not attend school if he/she is unwell

    • your child does not attend school if someone else in the household has Covid symptoms

    • the same people take your child to and from school each day

    • all adults wear masks on the school site and at the school gates

    • social distancing is maintained when at the school gates and on the school site

    • your child does not go to other children’s houses for tea and/or sleepovers

I hope that with this continued effort more children can get back to school for their learning and also to have that vital social interaction with their friends.

Thank you all for your continued support, you really have been amazing through the ongoing situation,

    Yours sincerely

    SUE WALKER

    CHIEF OFFICER (LEARNING)
