Daeth Mr Julian Rees i fewn i siarad gyda phlant Blwyddyn 4 am bwysigrwydd Gwenyn yn y broses o bolineiddio.

Mr Julian Rees came into school to talk about the types of bees that there are and their importance in the process of pollination.

Ein Thema

Ein thema'r tymor yma yw ‘Iechyd Da.’

Yn ystod y tymor fe fyddwn yn gwneud gweithgareddau ym mhob pwnc sy’n clymu mewn i’n thema. Fe fyddwn yn edrych yn fanwl ar y Rhufeiniaid yn Hanes ac astudio bywyd, bwyd, dillad, trafnidiaeth a chartrefi'r Rhufeiniaid. Hefyd, y fyddin Rufeinig, rhifau Rhufeinig a’r Rhufeiniaid yn brwydro yn erbyn y Celtiaid. Yn ein gwersi Gwyddoniaeth fe fyddwn yn astudio ‘Cyd-ddibyniaeth Organebau’. Fe fyddwn yn gwneud amrywiaeth o ymchwiliadau ymarferol ar y pwnc yma. Yn ein gwersi Daearyddiaeth fe fyddwn yn astudio ffiniau naturiol megis y môr, yr anialwch a fforestydd glaw. Yn ein gwersi Celf fe fyddwn yn astudio Andy Goldsworthy a chreu Celf yn yr amgylchedd. Yn ein gwersi Dylunio a Thechnoleg, fe fyddwn yn dysgu sut i fwyta’n iach a chreu ‘smoothies’ iachus. Fe fyddwn hefyd yn edrych ar fwydydd sy’n dod o Gymru yn ein gwersi Cwricwlwm Cymreig.

Our Theme

Our theme of this term is  'Healthy Living.'

During the term we will be doing activities in every subject that ties into our theme. We will look closely at the Romans in History and study the food, clothing, transport and Roman homes. Also, the Roman army and numeracy work on the number of Romans fighting against the Celts. In our Science lessons we will studying 'Interdependence of Organisms'. We will carry out a variety of practical investigations on this topic. In our Geography lessons we will study natural boundaries such as the sea, the desert and Rainforests. In our Art lessons we will study Andy Goldsworthy and create Art in the environment. In our Design and Technology lessons, we will learn how to eat healthily and create healthy 'smoothies'. We will also look at foods that come from Wales in our Welsh Curriculum lessons.

Ein dosbarth

Yn nosbarth Drudwy 2 mae yna 21 o ddisgyblion. Rydyn ni fel dosbarth yn gweithio’n galed ar amrywiaeth o dasgiau. Yr athrawon  yn ein dosbarth yw Mrs Davies, Mrs Tricker a Miss Williams. Mae Mrs Davies yn dysgu ar Ddydd Llun, Dydd Mawrth a Dydd Mercher a Mrs Tricker ar Ddydd Iau a Dydd Gwener.

Gwaith Cartref

Fe fydd gwaith cartref yn cael ei rhoi yn wythnosol ar brynhawn ddydd Gwener. Mae disgwyl i’r plant gwblhau'r dasg cartref a’i ddychwelyd yn ôl i’r ysgol erbyn bore dydd Mawrth.

Hefyd, mae disgwyl i bob plentyn ddarllen o leiaf un neu ddwy o dudalennau o’i lyfrau darllen (Cymraeg a Saesneg) bob nos. Ni allwn bwysleisio ddigon y pwysigrwydd o ddarllen gyda’ch plentyn bob nos! Hefyd, mae’n bwysig iawn i ymarfer tablau gyda’ch plentyn yn gyson a byddwn yn profi'r plant yn wythnosol ar rhain.

Addysg Gorfforol

Fe fydd gwersi Addysg Gorfforol yn digwydd bob Dydd Mawrth. Y tymor yma, fe fydd y gwersi yn cymryd lle tu fewn – yn y neuadd ac fe fyddwn yn neud dawns. Fe fydd angen gwisg addas ar gyfer y sesiynau. Fel arfer, rwyf yn gofyn i ddisgyblion i wisgo crys-t gwyn (plaen) a siorts du. Does dim angen treinars.

Ein Thema

Fe fyddwn yn edrych yn fanwl ar y degawd yr 1960au ac astudio cerddoriaeth a digwyddiadau mawr  y degawd. Yn ein gwersi Gwyddoniaeth fe fyddwn yn astudio ‘Goleuni a Sain’. Fe fyddwn yn gwneud amrywiaeth o ymchwiliadau ymarferol ar y pwnc yma. Os oes gennych unrhyw wybodaeth am neu arbenigedd yn y pynciau uchod, fe fyddwn yn ddiolchgar os gallech chi eu rhannu gyda ni.

I would like to take this opportunity to explain some of the arrangements for this term and to outline the work we will be completing.

Our Class

There are 21 pupils in Drudwy 2 class. We expect the children to work conscienciously and to be respectful of others in all that they do. The teachers in our class are Mrs Davies/ Mrs Tricker and Miss Williams. Mrs Davies works on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday and Mrs Tricker works on Thursday and Fridays.

Homework

Homework will be distributed weekly on a Friday afternoon. Homework is to be returned to school by Tuesday morning, please.

Pupils are also expected to read at least one or two pages of their reading books (Welsh and English) every night. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of reading with your child on a daily basis. Please keep practising tables at home and we will be testing them on a regular basis.

Physical Education

Physical Education lessons will take place on a Tuesday each week. This term the sessions will be inside, where we will be doing dance. Please ensure that pupils have a suitable kit for these sessions. As always, we encourage pupils to wear a plain white T-shirt and black shorts if possible. There is no need for any footwear.

Our Theme

Our class theme this term is ‘Travelling through the Century’. We will be doing a variety of activities in every subject which tie in to this theme. In History we will be looking closely at the 1960's and learning about the music and main events of the decade. In Science, we will be learning about ‘Light and Sound’. We will be investigating how light and sound move and how we are able to see and hear.

 If you have any books, information or expertise on anything linked to our theme, we would be very grateful if you could share this with our class to aid the collection of learning resources and further pupils’ learning.

Croeso nol.

Gobeithio fod pawb yn barod am dymor da o waith unwaith eto. Ein thema y tymor yma fydd Glanlanwyr. Yn ein gwersi Iaith fe fyddwn yn astudio Stori Dwynwen ac yn dysgu sut i wella ein sgiliau ysgrifennu yn Gymraeg. Ag yn Saesneg byddwn yn dysgu am y gwahaniaeth rhwng Biography ag Autobiography ac yn ysgrifennu Autobiography ein hunain erbyn diwedd y tymor.

Fe fydd ein gwersi hanes yn ymwneud ag Oes y Tuduriaid. Fe fyddwn yn dysgu am lanlanwyr enwog yr Oes ac am fywyd pobl cyffredin eu cartrefi, eu dillad a'u bwyd. Fe fyddwn yn ymweld ag amgueddfa Werin Cymru yn Sain Ffagan i hyrwyddo'r dysgu yma.

Yn Naearyddiaeth fe fyddwn yn astudio Awstralia ac yn dysgu am lefydd a phobl a nodweddion daearyddol y lle, yn ogystal a hanes a diwylliant y pobl cynhenid. Fe fydd rhifedd yn cael ei dysgu trwy waith map a niferoedd poblogaeth a phellter. Yn ogystal a gwerthfawrogi celf fe fyddwn yn gwrando ar gerddoriaeth a rhythmau o Awstralia.

Yng Ngwyddoniaeth fe fyddwn yn dysgu ac yn ymchwilio i nodweddion a phwrpasau gwahanol defnyddiau, gan ddysgu pa rai sydd yn naturiol a pa rai sy'n wneuthuredig. Hefyd fe fydd prosiect bach Gwyddoniaeth/Dylunio a Thechnoleg yn arwain at greu Rhestr Chwarae cerddoriaeth addas ar gyfer gwahanol ardaloedd yr ysgol.

Yn Addysg Grefyddol fe fyddwn yn astudio Iddewiaeth yn enwedig Gwyl y Pesach sydd yn digwydd adeg y Pasg. Hefyd fe fyddwn yn cael cyfle i ymweld ag Eglwys Gristnogol lleol i ddysgu am bwysigrwydd y Pasg i Gristnogion.

Y tymor yma fe fydd set o wersi nofio am bythefnos ac yna fe  fydd gwersi gymnasteg ynghyd a Gweithgareddau awyr agored wrth i'r tywydd cynhesu a gwella.

Rydyn ni yn edrych ymlaen yn fawr iawn at astudio themau y tymor yma ac yn hyderus y bydd y plant yn parhau i wneud cynnydd da iawn ar draws y cwricwlwm.

Spring Season

Welcome back.

I hope everyone is ready for a good season of work again. Our theme of this season will be Explorers. In our Language lessons we will study the story of Dwynwen and will learn how to improve our writing skills in Welsh. In English we will learn about the difference between Biography and Autobiography and write our own Autobiography by the end of the term.

Our history lessons will be about the Tudor Age. We will learn about the famous Explorers of the Age and about the life of the ordinary people, their homes,their clothes and their food. We will be visiting the Welsh Folk Museum at St Fagans to promote this learning.

In Geography, we will study Australia and learn about places and people and the geographical features of the place, as well as the history and culture of the indigenous people. Numeracy will be learned through map work and population numbers and distances.

As well as appreciating art we will listen to music and rhythms from Australia. In Science we will learn and explore the characteristics and purposes of different materials, learning which are natural and what are manufactured. A small Science / Design and Technology project will also lead to the creation of a suitable Music Play List for different school areas.

In Religious Education, we will study Judaism, especially the Pesach Festival that takes place during Easter. We will also have the opportunity to visit a local Christian Church to learn about the importance of Easter for Christians.

This term there will be a set of swimming lessons for two weeks and then there will be gymnastics lessons and Outdoor activities as weather conditions warm up and improve.

We are really looking forward to studying the themes of this season and confident that the children will continue to make very good progress across the curriculum. Thank you for your constant support over the past term. We look forward to the same level of support this coming term.

Beth yw’r Siarter Iaith?

Nod y Siarter Iaith yw annog plant i siarad Cymraeg yn amlach mewn sefyllfaoedd cymdeithasol. Llywodraeth Cymru sy’n gyfrifol am arwain y Siarter, ac yn eu geiriau nhw, ‘Mewn gair, ysbrydoli ein plant a’n pobl ifanc i ddefnyddio’u Cymraeg ym mhob agwedd o’u bywydau’ yw’r nod. Dros y tair blynedd nesaf, bydd pob plentyn ym mhob ysgol Gymraeg yn cael cyfle i ennill gwobr efydd, arian ac aur. Mae hyn yn dibynnu ar faint o Gymraeg maen nhw’n ei siarad o ddydd i ddydd - mewn sefyllfaoedd amrywiol yn yr ysgol a’r gymuned. Mae’r Siarter Iaith yn gyfle i bawb yng nghymuned yr ysgol chwarae eu rhan wrth hyrwyddo’r defnydd o’r Gymraeg - cyngor yr ysgol, y disgyblion, y gweithlu, rhieni, llywodraethwyr a’r gymuned ehangach er mwyn sicrhau perchnogaeth lawn o’r iaith.

Beth yw manteision y Siarter Iaith?

Rydych chi eisoes wedi dewis addysg Gymraeg i’ch plentyn ac yn deall manteision medru siarad dwy iaith. Mae cywirdeb iaith yn holl bwysig yn nhermau cyrhaeddiad addysgol plant. Y ffordd orau o sicrhau hyn wrth eich bod chi, fel cymuned yr ysgol, yn annog eich plentyn i ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg ar bob cyfle posibl.

Rydym ni yn gyffrous iawn i weithio gyda phob rhiant i gynyddu faint o Gymraeg sy’n cael ei siarad ym mhob ysgol. Edrychwch mas am ddigwyddiadau cyffrous yn fuan iawn!

Hello Parents,

We are Sbarc and Seren. You are sure to see a lot of us around the school over the coming months. We are the official characters for the Welsh Language Charter.

What is the Welsh Language Charter?

The main aim of the charter is to create an increase in the children’s social use of Welsh. We want to inspire our children and young people to use Welsh in every aspect of their lives. Over the next three years the school will have the opportunity to win a bronze, silver and gold award. The Welsh Language Charter asks for a contribution from every member of the school community – the pupils, the school council, the staff, the parents, the governors and the community.

What are the advantages of the Charter?

Raising the standard of the children’s spoken Welsh will have a positive effect on their educational attainment. Research shows that bilingual children achieve better results.
