    Dyddiad/Date:  16th December 2021

    Annwyl Riant / Gwarcheidwad

Wrth i ni ddod i ddiwedd tymor tarfu arall, a allaf unwaith eto ddweud diolch i bawb am eu cefnogaeth barhaus i'n hysgolion.

Yn dilyn cyhoeddiad y Gweinidog Addysg y bore yma, gallaf gadarnhau y bydd pob ysgol ar draws y Fwrdeistref Sirol yn parhau ar gau i ddysgwyr tan 6 Ionawr 2022.  Bydd taliadau Prydau Ysgol am Ddim yn cael eu haddasu i ystyried y newid hwn.

Ar hyn o bryd nid oes unrhyw gynlluniau i ailgyflwyno newidiadau i'r amseroedd dechrau a gorffen ond gall hyn newid yn dibynnu ar sefyllfa barhaus y pandemig.

Bydd angen i ddysgwyr ysgolion uwchradd, fel y maent wedi'u gwneud ers hanner tymor mis Hydref, wisgo masgiau mewn gwersi ac yn adeilad yr ysgol ac o'i amgylch. Er bod gan ysgolion rai cyflenwadau o fasgiau, a fyddech cystal â sicrhau bod eich plentyn yn dod â mwgwd i'r ysgol.  Bydd yr arholiadau arfaethedig ym mis Ionawr 2022 yn dal i fynd ymlaen.

A allaf eich atgoffa hefyd, oni bai eich bod wedi'ch eithrio rhag gwisgo mwgwd, y dylech fod yn gwisgo mwgwd bob amser wrth ollwng neu godi eich plant. Os ydych wedi'ch eithrio, rhowch y wybodaeth berthnasol i'r ysgol.

Peidiwch ag anfon eich plentyn i'r ysgol os yw'n arddangos symptomau Covid neu os oes unrhyw un yn yr aelwyd wedi profi'n bositif.

Cyfarchion y Tymor i chi i gyd a gobeithio y cewch wyliau diogel a heddychlon.

    Yn gywir

    Dear Parent / Guardian

As we come to the end of another disrupted term, can I once again say thank you to everyone for their continued support for our schools.

Following on from the Education Minister’s announcement this morning, I can confirm that all schools across the County Borough will remain closed to learners until 6th January 2022.  Free School Meal payments will be adjusted to take account of this change.

At the moment there are no plans to re-introduce changes to the start and finishing times but this may change depending on the ongoing pandemic situation.

Secondary schools learners, as they have done since October half-term, will need to wear masks in lessons and in and around the school building.  Whilst schools do have some supplies of masks, please could you also ensure that your child brings a mask to school.  January 2022 examinations are still planned to go ahead.

Can I also remind you that unless you are exempt from wearing a mask, you should be wearing a mask at all times when dropping off or picking up your children.  If you are exempt, please provide the relevant information to the school.

As now, please do not send your child to school if they are displaying Covid symptoms or if anyone in the household has tested positive.

Season’s Greetings to you all and I hope you have a safe and peaceful holiday.

    Yours sincerely

    SUE WALKER

  • New Headteacher Appointment

    Tue 07 Dec 2021

    New Headteacher Appointment

The Governing Body of Ysgol Gymraeg Rhyd y Grug is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Alwen Bowen to succeed as Headteacher of our school following the retirement of Mr Williams at the end of this year. Mrs Bowen is due to commence her duties in January.

The Governors had identified a very stringent and rigorous list of required criteria for applicants to the post in order that the new Headteacher would have the ability to maintain, and also develop upon, the excellent educational standards as established during the eleven year Headship of Mr Williams within our school.

Following a very demanding two day interview process involving Governors, staff, students, along with senior representatives from the Local Authority, it was unanimously agreed that Mrs Bowen met and exceeded our requirements.

Mrs Bowen is currently in her third year as acting Headteacher at Ysgol Gymraeg Pwll Coch in Cardiff. Having graduated in 1992 her teaching career progressed, commencing a Deputy Headship in 2014 and achieving the NPQH in 2016.

In sharing this wonderful news with you, I should also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Williams again for his total and professional support to the Governors during the recruitment process along with his outstanding skills of leadership and management in establishing Ysgol Gymraeg Rhyd y Grug as the brilliant school we know and respect.

    Kind Regards

    Michelle Symonds

    Chair of Governors
