Ysgol ar Gau / School closed.

Unfortunately we have decided that it is unsafe to open the school tomorrow – Tuesday , December 12th.

As you can see from the pictures , we have made an attempt to clear pathways and pavements , but despite our best efforts , the freezing temparatures are creating black ice underneath the cleared snow. We have attempted to put down salt to help the situation , but this has not worked either.

We have also contacted the council about the fact that the access road to school has not been gritted and only 4x4s are able to make it onto the site. Our buses and ordinary cars certainly would not be able to drive on such a dangerous surface. The situation for pedestrians is even worse,

We contacted the council to get the access road gritted , but as of 5.00pm this evening , this has not happened.

As we have to buy our own salt for the school , we cannot clear the vehicle or pedestrian access beyond our perimeter fences.

The Year 1 and 2 concert scheduled for tomorrow will now take place at 1.45pm on Thursday instead – all original tickets are valid.

We are really sorry to inconvenience everyone, but while there is the slightest chance of children , staff or parents being in an unsafe environment we cannot take the risk.

Mr Williams and Mr Haines will be working on the school site tomorrow and we will update you as soon as possible.
