Annwyl Rieni / Gofalwyr
Wrth inni agosáu at ddiwedd blwyddyn anodd, gwn y bydd llawer ohonoch yn awyddus i wybod pa drefniadau y bydd ein hysgolion yn eu rhoi ar waith ar gyfer Ionawr 2021 yng ngoleuni symud i Haen 4. Rwy'n gobeithio y bydd y llythyr hwn yn darparu gwybodaeth ddefnyddiol mewn perthynas trefniadau dechrau tymor.
Y rheswm allweddol dros symud i Haen 4 yw atal y firws rhag lledaenu ymhellach ac i'r perwyl hwn bydd holl ysgolion Merthyr Tudful yn defnyddio dydd Llun 4ydd a dydd Mawrth 5ed Ionawr i asesu lefelau'r staff sydd ar gael, adolygu asesiadau risg a sicrhau bod ysgolion yn parhau i fod yn ddiogel amgylchedd i ddysgwyr.
Mae hyn yn golygu, ar y ddau ddiwrnod hyn, na fydd unrhyw ddysgwyr yn yr ysgol. Mae hefyd yn golygu na fydd cyfleoedd dysgu uniongyrchol ar-lein yn cael eu darparu gan ysgolion unigol ar gyfer eu disgyblion ar 4ydd a 5ed Ionawr.
Ar 6ed, 7fed ac 8fed Ionawr, bydd ysgolion Merthyr Tudful yn darparu cefnogaeth ar y safle i blant gweithwyr beirniadol. Sylwch fod gweithwyr beirniadol at y diben hwn yn cael eu diffinio fel rhywun sy'n gweithio i un o'r sefydliadau canlynol:
• Iechyd
• Gofal cymdeithasol
• Gwasanaeth tân ac achub
• Gwasanaeth ambiwlans
• Addysg
Fel o'r blaen, dim ond os yw'n hollol angenrheidiol y dylid defnyddio'r gefnogaeth hon.
Llawer yn yr un ffordd ag y maent wedi'i wneud yr wythnos hon (h.y., gan ddefnyddio'r un meini prawf cymhwysedd), ddydd Llun 4ydd Ionawr, bydd ysgol eich plentyn yn gofyn i rieni roi gwybod iddynt pa blant fydd yn mynychu'r ysgol ar 6ed, 7fed ac 8fed Ionawr. Peidiwch â chysylltu â'ch ysgol cyn hyn.
Ni ddarperir unrhyw brydau ysgol yn ystod yr wythnos hon - bydd disgwyl i bob plentyn ddod â phrydau wedi'u pacio - i'r rhai sy'n gymwys i gael prydau ysgol am ddim, dilynir y broses ad-dalu gyfredol.
Bydd disgyblion a fydd yn dysgu gartref ar 6ed, 7fed ac 8fed Ionawr yn derbyn gweithgareddau dysgu ar-lein gan eu hysgolion.
O ddydd Llun 11eg Ionawr, bydd dysgwyr yn dechrau dychwelyd i'r ysgol. Bydd ysgol eich plentyn yn rhoi gwybod i chi sut y bydd hyn yn digwydd ym mis Ionawr. Rwy'n disgwyl bod cymaint o ddysgwyr â phosib yn cael eu haddysgu ar y safle, mor gyflym ac mor ddiogel â phosib yn ystod yr wythnos hon.
Diolch, unwaith eto, am eich cefnogaeth a'ch amynedd parhaus. Cymerwch ofal - a chael Nadolig diogel.
Yn gywir
SUE WALKER, PRIF SWYDDOG (DYSGU)
Dear Parents/Carers
As we approach the end of a difficult year, I know many of you will be keen to know what arrangements our schools will be putting in place for January 2021 in light of moving to Tier 4. I hope this letter will provide helpful information in respect of start-of-term arrangements.
The key reason for the move to Tier 4 is to suppress further spread of the virus and to this end all Merthyr Tydfil schools will be using Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th January to assess levels of available staff, review risk assessments and ensure schools remain a safe environment for learners.
This means that, on these two days, no learners will be in school. It also means that direct online learning opportunities will not be provided by individual schools for their pupils on 4th and 5th January.
On 6th, 7th and 8th January, Merthyr Tydfil schools will be providing on-site support for the children of critical workers. Please note critical workers for this purpose are defined as someone who works for one of the following organisations:
As previously, we would expect this support would only be used if absolutely necessary.
Much in the same way as they have done this week (i.e., using the same eligibility criteria), on Monday 4th January, your child’s school will ask parents to let them know which children will be attending school on 6th, 7th and 8th January. Please do not contact your school prior to this.
There will be no school meals provided during this week – all children will be expected to bring packed meals – for those eligible for free school meals the current re-imbursement process will be followed.
Pupils who will be learning from home on 6th, 7th and 8th January will receive online learning activities from their schools.
From Monday 11th January, learners will start to return to school. Your child’s school will let you know how this will happen in January. It is my expectation that as many learners as possible are educated on-site, as quickly and as safely as possible during this week.
Thank you, once again, for your ongoing support and patience.
Take care – and have a safe Christmas.
Yours sincerely
SUE WALKER
CHIEF OFFICER (LEARNING)
Unfortunately a pupil in the class has just had a positive COVID19 test result. This means that all members of the class , including the staff have to self-isolate for 10 days. The confirmed end of the self-isolation period is

Annwyl Rieni / Gofalwyr
Yr wythnos diwethaf, ysgrifennais atoch i egluro trefniadau diwedd tymor yn ein hysgolion.
Ddoe, gwnaed awdurdodau lleol yng Nghymru yn ymwybodol o argymhelliad clir gan y Prif Swyddog Meddygol y dylid cau pob ysgol uwchradd brif ffrwd i bob dysgwr (Blwyddyn 7 i Flwyddyn 13 yn gynhwysol), ac eithrio'r rhai mwyaf agored i niwed, o ddydd Llun 14eg Rhagfyr. gyda dysgu'n cael ei ddarparu o bell tan 18fed Rhagfyr, diwrnod olaf Tymor yr Hydref.
Ar hyn o bryd nid yw cyfarwyddeb y Prif Swyddog Meddygol yn berthnasol i ysgolion cynradd ac ysgolion arbennig, na'r unedau atgyfeirio disgyblion, ond oherwydd y sefyllfa staffio bresennol yn Ysgol Arbennig Maes-glas byddant hefyd yn symud i ddysgu o bell rhwng dydd Llun 14eg Rhagfyr a dydd Gwener 18fed Rhagfyr.
Mae'r trefniadau diwedd tymor cyfredol ar gyfer ysgolion Merthyr Tudful fel a ganlyn:
Oherwydd y cynnydd sylweddol a chynyddol mewn achosion cadarnhaol mewn ysgolion, efallai y bydd mwy o ysgolion yn cau cyn dydd Mawrth nesaf. Os bydd hyn yn digwydd, rhoddir cyfathrebu pellach i rieni / gofalwyr bryd hynny.
Rwy'n sylweddoli bod hyn ar fyr rybudd, felly i gefnogi teuluoedd gweithwyr gofal iechyd proffesiynol a gweithwyr proffesiynol golau glas, a lle nad oes dewis arall i gyd, bydd ysgolion yn cynnig darpariaeth gofal plant brys. Os oes angen hyn arnoch chi, a allech chi gysylltu ag ysgol eich plentyn yn uniongyrchol, heddiw ar gyfer disgyblion uwchradd ac erbyn amser cinio ddydd Llun 14eg Rhagfyr ar gyfer disgyblion cynradd. Oherwydd amseriad hyn ni fydd yr awdurdod lleol yn rheoli'r gofal plant brys yn ganolog a bydd Pennaeth eich ysgol yn rheoli'r broses.
Rwy'n ddiolchgar i rieni a gofalwyr am eu cefnogaeth, eu dealltwriaeth a'u hamynedd ar yr adeg heriol hon.
Yn gywir

Dyddiad/Date: 11th December 2020
Dear Parents/Carers
Last week, I wrote to you to explain end-of-term arrangements in our schools.
Yesterday, local authorities in Wales were made aware of a clear recommendation by the Chief Medical Officer that all mainstream secondary schools should be closed to all learners (Year 7 to Year 13 inclusive), except for the most vulnerable, from Monday 14th December with learning being provided remotely until 18th December, the last day of the Autumn Term.
The Chief Medical Officer’s directive does not currently apply to primary and special schools, or pupil referral unit settings, however due to the current staffing situation in Greenfield Special School they will also move to remote learning from Monday 14th December until Friday 18th December.
The current end-of-term arrangements for Merthyr Tydfil schools are as follows:
Due to the significant and growing increase in positive cases in schools, it is possible that further school closures may occur before next Tuesday. If this happens, further communication will be issued to parents/carers at that time.
I realise this is short notice, so to support families of healthcare professionals and blue light professionals, and where there is no alternative, all schools will be offering emergency childcare provision. If you require this, please could you contact your child’s school directly, today for secondary pupils and by lunchtime on Monday 14th December for primary pupils. Due to the timing of this the local authority will not be managing the emergency childcare centrally and your school’s Headteacher will be managing the process.
I am grateful to parents and carers for their support, understanding and patience at this challenging time.
Yours sincerely
SUE WALKER
CHIEF OFFICER (LEARNING)
Because of the risk of pupils contracting coronavirus at schools ,and therefore having to self-isolate over Christmas Day , Merthyr Council have decided that we will close for pupils at the end of the day on Tuesday , December 15th.
This was an inevitable decision given the surrounding councils of RCT , Bridgend , Cardiff and Caerphilly had already made the decision regarding primary schools a few days ago.
I'm sorry for the short notice , but as you will be aware , we are under the direct guidance of Merthyr Council and as such have to wait for their decision making process to take its course.
Tasks will be set on both Dojo and Classroom for pupils to complete.
As far as I know the school will be open again on Monday , January 4th 2021 , but of course will keep you fully informed when details have been confirmed.
The official letter from Merthyr is attached for your information.
Diolch,
Mr Williams
Oherwydd y newidiadau yn y cyfnod hunan ynysu cyhoeddwyd neithiwr gan Lywodraeth Cymru , mi fydd dosbarth Miss Clement bellach yn gallu dychwelyd i'r ysgol ar ddydd Llun,Rhagfyr 14eg. Mae eu cyfnod ynysu nawr yn gorffen ar Ragfyr 12fed.
Because of the changes announced last night by Welsh Government about reducing the length of the self-isolating period to 10 days , Miss Clement's class can now return to school on Monday , December 14th.Their self-isolation period now ends on December 12th.
Newyddion da! / Good news!
Yn anffodus eleni, dydyn ni ddim yn gallu caniatau cardiau Nadolig yn yr ysgol , mae'n benderfyniad anodd, ond mae'n well bod yn ofalus eleni. Peidiwch ag anfon anrhegion at yr athrawon os gwelwch yn dda - rydyn ni gyd yn gwerthfawrogi eich rhoddion bob blwyddyn, ond eto, gwell beidio eleni - diolch.
Unfortunately another side-effect of this strange time is that we won't be able to allow pupils to exchange Christmas cards at school this year. It is a difficult decision to make, although it is certainly for the best this year!
Also, although all members of staff are always grateful if you choose to buy gifts for them at Christmas, we won't be able to accept any this year.
Thank you.
